Roy Morlan is a Senior Engineering Geologist and Project Manager with Forte Dynamics.  As such, Roy is a geologic and geotechnical technical lead, helping to develop site characterization, foundation analysis, and construction quality assurance (QA) planning.  As a Project Manager Roy is responsible for technical scope development, execution, and tracking; budgets, schedules, project setup, invoicing, and financial tracking; subcontractor oversight; and staffing, training, and project health and safety management.  

 

Roy is a Professional Geo-Scientist (PG) licensed in the state of Texas.  Roy is also a Project Management Professional (PMP) certified with the Project Management Institute (PMI).  Roy has over 15 years experience in providing geologic and geotechnical engineering services to mines, governments, and industrial clients around the world.  This includes leading and performing slope stability, seepage, and settlement analysis for dams, heap leach facilities, large storage piles, and goehazards; geohazard identification; large structure foundation designs; and geologic mapping, classification, and interpretation. Roy has overseen large geologic/geotechnical investigations for dams and heap leach facilities in multiple countries.   Roy has also vast experience as a Project Manager.  This includes projects for dam design, heap leach facility design, quality assurance during construction, resident engineering, and dam safety and compliance audits.    Roy is fluent is Spanish and has extensive experience working in Latin America include Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Curacao, Chile, Argentina, Panama, and Brazil. 

 

Select experience Roy has in mining include technical and project management for geologic/geotechnical characterization, feasibility design, detailed design, and/or construction QA for various works at the Cerro Verde Mine in Peru, the Candelaria Mine in Chile, the Pierina Mine in Peru, Cerro Corona in Peru, the Eagle Gold Mine in Canada, the Cerro Vanguardia Mine in Argentina, the Mesquite Mine in California, the Key Lake Facility in Canada, and the Rainy River Mine in Canada.
